Resolution No. 2010 –



RELATING TO REDEDICATING THE AGUA FRIA PARK IN HONOR OF THE MARIA ALBINA ROMERO FAMILY




WHEREAS, Agua Fria Park was established in 19---, to provide a meeting place for children and adults to recreate outdoors and contribute to the environmental well–being of the
community; and,



WHEREAS, Agua Fria Park, is an integral part of Agua Fria Village serving to build an active healthy community and protecting the ecological beauty of open space for
families and friends to gather; and



WHEREAS, Agua Fria is an ancient community dating back to the 12 hundreds, when the Pindi Indians inhabited it, and;



WHEREAS, in the early eighteen hundreds, Jose Jacinto Gallegos and his wife Florentina Dominguez were among the first Spanish settlers in Agua Fria, which contained several natural
springs, woodlands and a perpetual flowing river; and



WHEREAS, Jose Jacinto Gallegos and Florentina conceived six children; Maria Albina, Nestor, Deluvina, Elias and Celso Gallegos, and;



WHEREAS, in 1865, their eldest child, Maria Albina married Jose Antonio Romero y Saiz and conceived nine children; Juanita, Jose Angel, Donacianao, Emerterio, Carlota, Manuelita,
Emilano, Luis and Rebecca Romero; and



WHEREAS, the historical home of Maria Albina Romero was a viable center in the village, and generously offered to serve as a birthing place for newborns, clinic for village doctors
and curandereros, housing for clergy when they came to minister at San Isidro,
a polling place and more recently from the turn of the century to 19--- the
present day home served as a general store which carried the community mostly
on credit for household dry goods and groceries; and



WHEREAS, the grandchildren and great grand children of Maria Albina Romero honor her legacy by continuing to make great contributions to Agua Fria Village and the greater
community of Santa Fe County; and,









WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of County Commissioners to honor the children, grand children and great grand children of Maria Albina Romero for the generous and
charitable contributions they made and continue to make in Agua Fria.



NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Santa Fe that Agua Fria Park located at ---------------be dedicated and known as “Romero Park” in honor
of Albina Romero.



PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 26th day of october, 2010.
